Mobile Worker:  



                Software on PDAs are hardware dependent, i.e. type of processor:   
                                        -   for Compaq's iPaq and Casio E-200, use  ARM software,
                                        -   for Casio's E-115, use  MIPS software
                                        -   for HP's  Jornada, use  SH3 software.

But almost al' new PDA's use the Strong ARM processor!

This section contains various PDA programs (for WinCe 3.0) that are specific designed for DNV's maritime use, e.g. ships inspection. Most of these programs are prototypes and may therefore be either slow, not optimised for speed or still incomplete.

Your are welcome to install them on your PDA and try them out. Please send us feedback - its the only way to improvement!!

     DNV Directory on the PDA              

  This is a prototype of the DNV Directory for use on a PDA with Win CE 3.0 operating system (for Mips and Arm1100 processors = Casio & IPAQ)

  • You can either search by family or given names (or start of names eg. mes would result in mestl)
  • or by country-town-department-names

            DNV Nauticus Surveyor Software (zip-file)   (Prototype)

A software prototype made by the Mobile Worker project in DNV Research.

The user has access to up to 8 different checklists. The conditions can be given via a dropdown menu and the user can enter additional info either via a virtual keyboard, a sketcher, a sound recorder or via the PDA camera from Casio.

Parts of the checklists can be selected based on the survey items location in the vessel.

The checklist can also be sorted wrt. location, survey task (test, examine, verify, record) and given condition.

Nauticus images of problem areas

A collection of Nauticus images of problem areas. Download the individual pictures on your PC and then transfer them to your PDA. The images can be displayed by a image viewer e.g. the one from Resco is very good (30 day trial).

The standard viewer in WinCE is Internet Explorer - which is VERY bad !!
